FOUNDER

MATT GULLETT

Welcome. I’m Matt, and I work as a psychotherapist in the Puget Sound Lowlands (Pierce, King & Kitsap Counties), and the Northwest Region (Whatcom, Island and Skagit Counties). I approach therapy from a relational and mindful perspective. I specialize in working with people in their trauma and addiction struggles, especially as it might pertain to issues in relationships, intimacy, sexuality and/or addiction/compulsion.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

I hold a Master in Counseling Psychology from the Seattle School of Theology & Psychology, and designations as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, Certified Partner Trauma Therapist and a Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist from the International Institute for Trauma & Addiction Professionals (founded by Dr. Patrick Carnes). My training also extends into psychedelic assisted psychotherapy, mindfulness based therapy, couples therapy and professional career/vocational coaching and counseling.

My path educationally and professionally has been rich and varied. I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics and History from Illinois State University, a Master of Library & Information Science from Indiana University, and a Master in Counseling Psychology from Seattle School for Theology and Psychology. I have worked as a librarian, information technology professional, and technology learning consultant to libraries, technology centers, and schools for over 25 years.

My Professional Path …
In 2008, I had begun to change my professional career/vocation and moved with my family to the northwest to study counseling with hopes to someday work as a psychotherapist. My studies at The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology (https://theseattleschool.edu/) taught me a great deal about being with people in their traumas and struggles. It also taught me a lot about myself. Fresh out of counseling graduate studies, I began working as a mental health therapist at Catholic Community Services Counseling Center and served as a Clinical Supervisor. In 2016, I left the work in community mental health to focus more on my work in private practice.

Currently, I lead and operate Integrative Therapies Group. It is a collective of health care professionals: psychotherapists (LMHC, LMFT), naturopathic doctors (ND), advanced registered nurse practitioners (ARNP), physicians assistants (PA), registered dieticians nutritionists (RD, RDN), and certified coaches. All who offer a blend of whole person, integrative, functional and therapeutic services to enhance the many possible ways of recovery for those struggling in issues of trauma, abuse, depression/anxiety and addiction. We assist you in your recovery from addiction and betrayal trauma in hopes that it will lead to an improvement in your overall life health, sexuality, intimacy and relationships.

MY STORY

I have been in recovery for over twenty years. It is a journey that I am grateful to have been on with my family and friends. I’ve been married to an amazing woman for over 35 years, and am blessed with three adult children who are an absolute joy to be around. My wife and I live in Mount Vernon, WA where we have a yard full of fruit trees and gardens. I have many hobbies and interests, including my dogs (Ollie & Pepper), music (post-rock ambient, independent/americana, classic rock, classical/opera), film/television (documentaries, mystery, action, sci-fi and fantasy), and reading. I also enjoy working with my hands, drawing, painting, tinkering, building and spending time outdoors walking/hiking.
